What has happened over the last several months in the market has been truely amazing and trying to keep your mind straight with the goal of growing a portfolio has been a tremendous challenge. What I find most interesting is the way the market reacts to the news or in many cases chooses to ignore news. I'm speaking primarily to wall street lof late, wanting to see stocks rally for any reason they can come up with. A perfect example of this was yesterday when IBM annouced it was buying back stock....bang!! ..the majority of the tech sector responds positively totally ignoring some pretty grim news in other headlines of the day. Before IBM's headline appeared stocks were in the red and dragging on some very negative housing data. Its reactions like this that make me shake my head as anyone with common sense would know that one company is incapable of saving the entire market. These events however take place day after day and it would seem the huge intraday swings in stocks are now becoming part of the norm.
The present environment is this battle of some investors (the bulls) believing most all of the bad news is priced in and we are near a bottom, while others (the bears) think we have yet more problems to encounter. Its hard not to be caught up in all of the market noise and media coverage that comes with trading.
Having said that, it makes me appear that I am in the bear camp. I do not consider myself one or the other by definition but I do pay close attention to market trends, so in the current environment, I am playing more defence than offence.

Good Luck Navigating to All.
