Each day I seem to hear more bad news about the big banks, and there seems to be this idea that financial stocks are bad. But one needs to realize that about 17-20% of the market is composed of financial stocks, and there are a lot of funds that need to keep track of their risk and so they must invest in some financial stocks. So my thinking goes like this, if the banks are getting hit, then wouldn't it be a good idea to get into insurance companies? I see valuation, growth, insider buying, low short interest and earnings momentum in some of the insurance companies. After all, the equity funds need to maintain their risk levels with the benchmarks, and those benchmarks have a lot in financials, the money needs to go somewhere. Don't give up on financials altogether; broaden your 'universe' of stocks, and take another look at insurance companies.
If you're curious to see a few insurance stocks, take a look at these - they might be good?

Unka (Uncle) Ankh,
Well I'll be a "Mummy's Uncle" : An Ankh
is an Egyptian Cross - symbolizung Fertility & Life. The word Ankh means "mirror" or "image"
in the Ancient Egyptian Language. It is a KEY
whose 'meaning' is Mysterious- Kinda like St. Peter's "Keys to the Kingdom".( See MichaelAngelo's Statue at St. Peter's in the Vatican - Mike put 2 Horns on the GateKeepper's Noggin. Wonder why? It's a Mystery, too.)
___AnyWay, watch out 4 MBIA & the like - Bond Insurer's - they make AAA out of the, well, Questionable. Remember - States,Cities & Corporations can't PRINT MONEY like the Fed'l Cov't which can print it's way into Backing the Full Faith, Credit & Taxing-Power Thang.
Everybody else just makes Promises which MBIA backs up with it's own Capital. In a Deluge,Mbia gets washed away.
---I lost monet on MBIA a long-time back - They Under-Charged and Over-Promised but they did survive. Mr. Market got jitters and stagged them - then the Federales came in and
backed New York City's bad debts, etc & so on and so forth. High Market Risk / Better Returns else-Where(?)
A word to the Wise - VikingWarrior
( I've got a Bear Claw necklace around my neck - I THINK I'm a Bear!!! and I'd Complain mightily even if you hung me with a NEW rope. )
