My LDK purchase before market close yesterday proved to be perfect, it gapped up and gained 19.44% today. I cashed out, sold my two solar energy stocks on their strength today. It seems to me that the solar energy stocks may have difficult time ahead. I will wait and see their development and am ready to add them into my portfolio at any time later. I reduced my holdings on SVA and SCON today. I made about $90,000 on SVA so far and still believe that this stock is undervalued. I cashed out the gains today and kept the same dollar amount I originally invested in SVA and let it run. I added several additional stocks into my portfolio: NM - another stock in shipping sector. I could add DRYS, TBSI. They are the leaders in this group. The stocks in this sector seem over-extended and is ready to pull back. CYH - a beaten down stock in health sector with good fundamental. PDE - a pull back stock in oil drilling sector. As a group, this sector will see its recovery from recent weakness. I may add additional stocks in this sector later. ESV may be another one. Last week, I predicted that oil refiner sector will see 10% gain in coming days. My two buys: SUN, VLO both gained more than 10% since then. SUN: $69.50 -> $76.75 I see sector rotation and oil drilling sector will be the next target. I have over $300k cash and will look for buys later. The market has been very hot these days. When I entered SLO contest, I set my goal of gaining 20% at the end of the competition. Look at what happened now. There are still two and half month left and we have about ten people who are in 30% plus mark. I think that you have to gain at least 50% to be in top 5. I upgraded my target: from 20% to 50%. I used to be a buy-and-hold investor. But I figured out now that you have to be an active trader to win the contest. It is very difficult to find 10 or more stocks, all of which gained 50% in the short period of time. - Everyday is another day. | ||
